This person will assure that the company products comply with the specifications established and with the food safety programs in order to achieve customer satisfaction. He or she will be responsible for the Quality Assurance programs in the plant. Responsible for coordinating and directing Quality programs defined by Corporate Offices. Coordinate and investigate corrective / preventive actions of the Food Safety and Quality Programs. Respond to audits performed by the Government, regulatory agencies, customers and private entities. Coordinate R&D activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

+ Responsible for providing a safe environment for department employees

+ Monitors the Quality Plans (incoming inspection, finished product inspection, calibration, audits, etc.)

+ Reviews the critical control points of the processes and assesses plant management of the potentials for product adulteration

+ Evaluates internal and external product failures (non conforming product, customer complaints, market returns, concessions, etc.) and generates corrective and/or corrective preventive actions for continuing trends

+ Responsible for assuring the proper disposition of non-conforming product

+ Demonstrates a collaborative relationship with other department managers in order for the overall plant goals (yield, waste, safety, cost savings, service to sales, etc.) to be met

+ Ensures that only approved suppliers are used according to the supplier approval program and that suppliers' performances meet acceptable criteria

+ Manages and audits the Quality System's Corrective Action Control Center

+ Maintain up to date records for all plant programs: HACCP, HARPC, Food Safety, Safety, Quality, Recall, etc.

+ Must be able to comply and keep administrative requirements current: inspections, Corrective action responses, consumer/customer complaints, service failures, safety, food safety, cost and other management reports

+ Generate reports using statistical data to monitor the plant adherence to quality standards

+ Assist in resolving customer related issues

+ Reviews specifications (ingredients, packaging, processing and finished products) for accuracy to meet processing requirements

+ Conducts sanitation audits of the plant to determine the adherence to food safety guidelines and to prepare for external sanitation and/or food safety audits

+ Interacts with regulatory officials and customer auditors in order to comply with their requirements

+ Assists in designing and carrying out process or formula experiments and R&D

+ Responsible for the administration of the department's budget as well as compliance to the budget

+ Reviews the plant's compliance to the Company Quality Policy, Manual and Procedures

+ Responsible to define training needs of QA personnel as well as the required Quality training required for Operations personnel

+ Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education/Experience/Specific-job-related skills:

+ Bachelor's Degree in Baking, Food Science, Chemistry or related Life science required

+ Knowledge of basic statistics required

+ Courses in Quality Assurance concepts desirable

+ Experience working on QA for a food manufacturing (7years min.)

+ Experience in food manufacturing plant sanitation programs is desirable

+ Knowledge of Quality Systems (ISO, BRC, SQF), HACCP. HARPC

+ Bilingual English/Spanish oral and written preferred.
